Grand Central is the central station of the Northern Line of the Greycliff Continental Railway. The station is located inside the city of Block Nation, at a central location in the city. It is accessible via /warp Grand Central.
Grand Central station was first built for the Togcity Subway (Block Nation's name was once Togcity), and specifically Line B. A tentative station for the Greycliff Continental Railway was built soon after the Line B station, and the Northern Line's platform was remodeled later. After the Northern Line's platform was finalized, a platform was also built for Line A of the Togcity Subway. Some time later, the platforms and tracks for Lines C, CX, D, and DX were added. In August 2015, an unused platform and trackway were assigned to Line E. Later that month, Line E was moved one track to the south, and Line F was given Line E's previous track. The Nuclear Line's platform was built after all of the previous ones, being an island platform with two tracks.
This station somewhat follows the GCR's naming convention of including the city or area name if there is more than one stop in that city or area, and on signs the station is called Togcity Grand Central. On signs outside of Togcity, the station is mostly referred along with West Hannaford as simply Togcity. However, newer signs (on the Nuclear Line) refer to the station simply as Grand Central.
While Togcity was renamed to Block Nation in early 2014, the Subway and GCR station have mostly not been updated to the new name.
Platform and track configuration
The Northern Line has two tracks with a wide island platform between them at this station. The Nuclear Line has two tracks with a wide island platform between them as well. Togcity Subway Lines A and B both also have two tracks and one island platform each. Lines C and CX have four tracks and share two island platforms. Line C is on the outside while Line CX is on the inside. The Lines D/DX area has four tracks and two island platforms, with a standard express station setup. Lines E and F have three tracks, two side platforms, and one island platform in their area. Line F uses the southernmost two tracks, the southern side platform, and the island platform while Line F uses the northernmost track, the northern side platform, and the island platform.
History
The first parts of the Grand Central station to be built were the Line B platform and the GCR platform. For a while, both Line B and the Northern Line terminated at Grand Central, but later both lines were extended past the station. The Northern Line's extension took place in conjunction with the completion of Line A's trackage into Grand Central, and both lines initially ran eastwards to West Hannaford. The next construction that occurred at Grand Central Station was the extension of Line A northwest to Center Street West. Later, Lines C and CX were built to stop at Grand Central, and even later Lines D and DX were built to stop at Grand Central. A bit later, a previously unused platform was modified to serve Line E, which now terminates at Grand Central. Line E was moved one track to the south later on, with Line F being given Line E's former track. Lines E and F were then switched so that Line F could use the two southernmost tracks to continue forward, while Line E would continue terminating on the northernmost track. Later, the Nuclear Line's platform was built south of the Northern Line's platform.
