Northern Line (Greycliff Continental Railway) |
Greenhill is a station on the Northern Line of the Greycliff Continental Railway. This station was arbitrarily named, and was originally constructed because of a planning error. Most of the platform area is outside, though the overpass and the stairs to the exit are inside a hill. At the top of the stairs, next to the exit, is a shop that has never been used.
Platform and track configuration
Greenhill station has two tracks and two side platforms. The stairs from the platforms lead to the overpass and to the unused shop and the exit.
This is one of the few stations with wide side platforms (2 meters each) and also platforms of a non-standard length. Normally, platforms are either 5 or 7 meters long, but Greenhill's platforms are 6 meters long.
History
This station was a westbound terminal for the Northern Line for a significant amount of time, until the line was extended west to Basingse. West Stronghold station is an in-fill station between Greenhill and Basingse. Unlike Mining Co station to the north, Greenhill station has very low ridership and is rarely used.
