Northern Line (Greycliff Continental Railway) |
Mining Co is a station on the Northern Line of the Greycliff Continental Railway. Mining Co was once a popular mining operation, but it later fell into disuse, and is now mostly abandoned. The railroad station was built after its heyday, and materials for Mining Co were never transported on the railroad due to this. It is near /warp Mining Co.
Platform and track configuration
Mining Co station has two tracks and one island platform. The exit from the platform leads to the main Mining Co area.
The tracks dip downwards immediately south of this station (Westbound) in order to accomodate the exit passageway, which always remains at the same level. This station is at a very low height, near bedrock. North of this station (Eastbound) is one of the few minecart elevators in the system. It takes carts from the level of Mining Co to the surface eastbound, and vice versa in the other direction.
History
This station was a westbound terminal for the Northern Line for a significant amount of time, until the line was extended southwest to Greenhill. This station has always been one of the higher-ridership stations, due to people often visiting Mining Co for various reasons.
