Hopper Duct Output Filter GUI
Hover Info when Output Divider is Enabled

Hopper Ducts are used to transport items from one location to another. Do not be fooled by their name, as they do not function like a hopper (in terms of sucking things up). Hopper Ducts will transfer items to the next container (ChestChests, HopperHoppers, other Hopper Ducts etc..) as long as it is placed on the face of the container. A HopperHopper is required in order for items to start being transported by Hopper Ducts.

Hopper Ducts transfer items at a rate similar to Boosted HopperBoosted Hoppers, which is an attempt at pushing the whole stack, rather than 1 item at a time.

Filter Pipes

Additionally, Hopper Ducts have a secondary Pink Pipe that only appears when placed next to a container. The only items that travel through this pipe are the ones that have been filtered by the player. You can filter items in the Hopper Duct Output Filter UI.

  • If all filtered containers are full or have hoppers disabled, items will travel through the main output pipe instead.

If a Hopper Duct happens to have multiple filter pipes, it will always prioritize output containers in this order:

  • Below (Y-1)
  • Above (Y+1)
  • North (Z-1)
  • South (Z+1)
  • West (X-1)
  • East (X+1)

Output Divider Mechanic

Hopper Ducts have an Output Divider option which can be toggled while viewing the Output Filter screen.

This option will cause items inside of the Hopper Duct to be evenly split between all available Filter Pipes (Pink Pipes). Remaining items will only use the main output (Grey Pipe) when their split couldn't fit into an output container.

HammerHammer

When right clicked with a HammerHammer, the pipe will change direction, saving the player from breaking and replacing the Hopper Duct.
